Step Two: Taking the pictures
When we took our pictures we were looking for parts of the still life with interesting shapes and folds. As well as this we looked for good lighting that eradicated the bland mid tones and increased the highlights and angles that took advantage of the background outside while close ups of particular shapes in the still life increased the detail.

Step one: Making the Still life
In school we made a still life as group which incorporated all our drawings and shapes that had inspired us as well as objects we felt worked well with the surroundings. The result was an abstract form of many individual ideas worked with and moulded into one collective sculpture.

Summer Work

My first pictures were inspired by my visit to the Courtauld institute of art. There I drew paintings by Cezanne and Degas.
These paintings inspired me to take pictures of body forms with hight tone and contrast, similiar to Cezanne's painting which is very tonal, shaded and rotund.
When I took my pictures I wanted to show the body contoted or twisted as I felt this would link in with Cezanne's depiction of the statue. I also wanted to show dynamics in the pictures like Degas who painted ballerina's dancing and warming up.
